The department of higher education, science and innovation have announced that they are working with colleges and universities to pursue online learning. The communications and digital technologies minister will reportedly be helping with the access to data for the online learning.
The lockdown has meant that many examinations and assignments were postponed as students left universities. There are currently plans to help students to gain access to examination papers and materials to prepare for the examinations.
Many students were forced to quickly leave campuses as all universities closed their campuses as well as the residences. Check out the previous newsletter which looked at the issue. Not all students have been able to return home and some universities are staying at residences on campus.
There are students remaining on residences on the following universities: University of Fort Hare, University of Johannesburg, University of the Western Cape, North West University, Central University of Technology, University of Pretoria, Sol Plaatje University, Vaal University of Technology, Mangosuthu University of Technology, Rhodes University, Walter Sisulu University, Stellenbosch University, Cape Peninsula University, Wits University, Sefako Makgatho University, University of Limpopo, University of Venda, University of the Free State, University of Cape Town, Nelson Mandela University, University of KwaZulu-Natal, University of Zululand.
