Friends,
How quickly times can change. In just a few short days we saw theatres go dark as public gatherings were discouraged by public health officials. We want to thank our colleagues for reacting so quickly and selflessly to safeguard the health of the public over their own best interests as producing companies. You were on the frontlines of containing the spread of this virus, and you did the right thing.
The days ahead will be tough, and the recovery from these shut-downs will not be easy. However, hearing about all of the community members donating their ticket funds back to the theatres, as opposed to asking for refunds, has been amazing. Manitoba is truly a caring place!
To add some levity, our board and company members have sent in what they're doing to keep busy during this vital period of personal distancing. And please keep in touch with us! We'd love to hear what you are up to on our social media pages!

To pass time I have started building a large Lego Star Wars set. You don't need to have kids to play with Lego :)
Katherine Johnson - Vice Chair
I'm listening to a lot of podcasts, something to occupy my brain while I'm doing simple tasks like dishes. I recommend Stuff You Missed in History Class for this. They've started a feed of lighter topics and funny topics from history which is awesome for the time.

I hope you're all able to find something positive in the middle of all this uncertainty and isolation. I'm back to cooking a lot and have a duck in my freezer - I'm making plans for this weekend!
Matt Molnar - Board Member
I'm working on editing a tongue-in-cheek audio tour, putting together a project management demo, and starting a new cross-stitch.

Epic decluttering! Reading (my bookclub is doing Zoom meetings!) and writing (some of my favourite people have started to offer free writing prompts in the past week: Barrelhouse Lit Mag & Kathy Fish and Nancy Stohlman).
Mel Marginet - Artistic Director
Lots of reading, long walks and runs, and I'm FINALLY watching Schitt's Creek. Why did this take so long? A laugh is so important right now, and this show has me in stitches!
Derek Leenhouts - Company Member
I've mostly been spending time cooking food (also doing dishes...side note: it's amazing how many dishes get dirtied when eating every meal at home!), playing music while also arranging a cappella stuff, playing PlayStation online with old friends, and even reading a bit here and there.

I’ve been trying to homeschool Zsig for the last 12 days! Never been so busy. And I, like all parents, am learning that if I ever had any doubt, indeed the teacher was never the problem. For fun, we’ve discovered cooking shows and street hockey! And I cut Karl’s hair yesterday, so that’s too bad.
Karl Thordarson - Company Member
I've also had more time to learn the piano lately so have been using that to find moments pf peace. And I love my new hair cut!
So long for now, friends. We miss you and hope you are doing well. We cannot wait until we can gather again and put on a show!
Take care,
The TBTR Team
