Both the Main Library and Ossian Branch are closed right now through at least April 17, due to concerns about the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). All library-sponsored programs and events that are held in-person have also been cancelled until May 9.
If the closure dates change by either the Library Board or due to an extended Stay-at-Home order within Indiana, we will post on social media and send another email. We are also posting updates on our Covid-19 Info Page.
The Library Staff have been busy working from home and are still offering many great services and programs that you can access from your house.
We are also just an email away if you have questions about your library card, digital services, or general reference questions. Email us at wcpl@wellscolibrary.org.

Libby and OverDrive
OverDrive is for all ages and can be accessed from the Northeast Indiana Digital Library or via the Libby or OverDrive apps if you have a smart phone, eReader, or tablet.
All you need to borrow materials is a library card. If you don’t currently have one or don't know your PIN, please fill out the Digital Library Card form on the library’s website, since library staff are still issuing digital library cards when closed.
In addition to the thousands of books, audiobooks, and magazines already on the site, the library is adding additional titles regularly to try to keep up with demand during this time and just added more than 4,000 Classics.
Which app do I use?
We recommend using the Libby app, since it's newer and more user-friendly. It's available on most phones, tablets, and eReaders. But there are still some devices that won't support it. In that case, search for the OverDrive app or go directly to the Northeast Indiana Digital Library. Get tips or recommendations for your specific device in the OverDrive Help section.

TumbleBooks
TumbleBooks is specifically geared for kids and offers animated story books, read-alongs, eBooks, graphic novels, non-fiction, National Geographic videos, language learning, puzzles/games, and more.
To access, get the TumbleBooks app in your app store, tap “Library,” and then search by our country and state. Then enter our library name and your library card number when prompted. All books and resources are divided by types for easy browsing and can be viewed directly within the app.
If you do not have a library card, please fill out a Digital Library Card form. You can also access TumbleBooks without a library card via the library’s Fun Websites page by clicking on the TumbleBook Library icon.

ONLINE ACTIVITIES AND RESOURCES
|
|
We have compiled a list of online activities for kids, teens, and adults that are stuck at home during the coronavirus pandemic to help with boredom, as well as, learning a new skill.
We have been adding more activities regularly to the list on our At-Home Activities page.
|
|
Keeping your mind active is a great way to de-stress for all ages. These crafts and art projects are all up on our Creativebug page right now. Most of the materials you likely already have on hand or they can be modified easily. All of the videos, classes, and templates on the site are free with your library card.

Genealogy at home is easy with the resources on the library's Genealogy and Local History page.
The Cemetery-Obiturary Data and Supplemental Marriage Records are available in Excel files. Download the Excel files to your own computer and you can search it, sort it, and discover your family's history.
And even in this time of distancing, we'll still answer your questions if you use the email link.
Happy hunting!

The library also has online resources and databases for everything from automotive repair, home improvement, health & medicine, language learning, and much more.

Motivation Monday
Need a fun activity to start your week? Each Monday at 9 am, we are posting a scavenger hunt idea or photo prompt.
We want everyone to get involved and send us their finished products. If you participate, we'd love to be able to post some of the photos on our social media.
Color Walk:
Up first, is a Color Walk. A color walk is simple:
- Pick a color
- Go for a walk
- Take photos of anything you see of that color
Don't forget to look up, down, and all around.
This week's color: Dark Blue
If you'd like, make a collage of your photos and either email them to emarshall@wellscolibrary.org or post on your own social media using #wcplcolorwalk!
If you aren't able to get outdoors, this activity could easily be done inside your home. Have fun and be creative!

Throwback Thursday
Book Chat
Thursdays at 7 pm on Facebook and Instagram
Online Book Discussion:
Thursday, April 30: 7 pm
Each Thursday at 7 pm in April, we will feature fun info or interesting facts about our book-of-the-month on both our Facebook and Instagram pages. It might be a recipe suggestion from the time period of the book, a podcast we recommend, or just details about the author.
Our book title for April will be "Little Women." Everyone can access the book on our Northeast Indiana Digital Library or via the Libby or OverDrive apps and read along with us!
Then on Thursday, April 30 at 7 pm, we will have an online book discussion together to talk more in-depth about the book, once everyone has had a chance to read it.
The Throwback Thursday Book Chat is open to teens and adults.
