Be Still!

I started this newsletter a couple of weeks ago, but with everything going on worldwide, I admit it’s been hard to focus on completing it. I’ve decided it could be therapeutic to collect my thoughts and give you an update on what’s happening here. Hopefully, you will enjoy reading some news other than Coronavirus and its statistics.
We are well and trying to "Be still" which is not very easy for either of us. We are quarantined in our home with a sufficient stock of groceries (my mom would be proud) for us and to share with others who might need. We are able to do ministry administrative duties from home with our laptops and cellphones. Praise the Lord for technology! We have also initiated devotions with ministry staff and people in the community via WhatsApp. We are learning new ways to do ministry, “serving in place” and hopefully encouraging others to seek God in all things.
We want to send a special THANK YOU to all of the pastors and churches in the states for the online and FaceBook live worship services. We are very grateful to be "connected" with you all!

"Be still and know that I am God." Psalm 46:10

Mission Vision Statement:
Recife Redemptive Ministry exists to reach the poorest of the poor with the saving grace of Jesus Christ seeing entire communities transformed holistically, for God's glory, and by our lifestyle and strategies train and equip local churches throughout Recife to do likewise.

Ministry Updates
Check out the screenshot from my cellphone! We are finding creative ways via WhatsApp to do devotions with the teenage girls!
The ministry Music School was off to a great start this year with a record breaking 52 students! We had also added more classes to the Computer Lab schedule due to an increased number of students! All classes are suspended until the Coronavirus quarantine is lifted. Please pray with us for these students and their families during this time. Paul Crothers (Latin Link missionary) and the Soccer Ministry were also off to a great start, with so many boys Paul held tryouts for the soccer teams! While the ministries are growing, our excitement is not about how many students or soccer players, it is about the doors God is opening and the opportunities we have to be a Christian influence in the lives of children, young people, adults and families in our community.
Pastoral Retreat
In February we had the privilege of holding the second pastors retreat to provide rest, encouragement and spiritual renewal for local pastors and their wives! Our friend, Bob Barber, was able to be here to teach fundamentals of Stephen Ministry, which has been such a helpful ministry tool! Thank you, Bob!

Welcome to Pastor Beto and Flavia

As we seek to serve in our community, Pastor Alberto and Flavia have joined us and have moved to Dois Unidos. While continuing to serve in their church in Tabajara (community in Recife) they are helping us as we pray and seek God's direction for planting a church in our local community. Please pray with us for God's guidance throughout this church plant process.

Prayer Requests:

*Please Pray for our family; God's protection for Craig and Mary in Brazil and Genn, Keenen and Shelby in the states.
*Please Pray for safety for all missionaries and their families; especially those serving in areas with inadequate healthcare systems.
*Please Pray for hospital staffs around the world.
*Please pray for ways we can serve others during this difficult time.
*Prayers of Gratitude for our prayer partners and supporters! We know that these are difficult times and we are praying for each of you. We are so grateful for the emails, texts, prayers, encouragement and financial support. Thank you for being a part of this mission team!
Thank You!

"Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful." Col 4:2
