Dear Friend of Woman Made Gallery:

I hope this message finds you safe and healthy!

Like you, we here at the gallery were thrown for a loop the day when our exhibit "Suffa-Jetting" was due to open.  The outstanding artists chosen for the exhibit represent everything that Woman Made Gallery believes in, supporting the voices of women in the art world.  Our focus is keeping all of us connected through art.

As COVID-19 takes the world by storm, our challenge is: how do we continue to amplify the voices of these women?  Amid the unexpected chain of events that began on Friday March 13th, we immediately began to shift our way of thinking about how to do this work, the work we’ve done for the past 28 years

With “Suffa-Jetting” installed and set to open, we asked ourselves how we could show this amazing exhibition to our friends, our supporters and YOU!  Gallery staff did a fantastic job of videoing the art pieces and getting them onto our social media platforms.  We connected with the individual artists and incorporated their comments into the social media postings.  We are thinking of additional creative ways to support artists, such as incorporating WMG discussions and poetry readings into an online platform.

Be assured that our work is continuing, as it has for 28 years, but we desperately need your help!

We have postponed our annual fundraiser that was scheduled for early June.  “The Future is Woman Made” honoring outstanding artists, Pamela Callahan and Tonika Johnson, was scheduled to bring in $39,000 for our budget this year.  We are committed to honoring these artists at a later date; however, we still need to raise these funds now!  This amount supports our programming, overall operations, and a planned move in late summer to a new space.

 We still need your help!

We are grateful that many of our supporters answered the call last week.  We raised nearly $7k!  However, we are far from our goal. Your critical support will help us continue to do the work you depend on, work that impacts people all around the world.  As you know, operating an art gallery, committing to paying staff as they work remotely and artist promotion takes a lot of money. This is why I am reaching out to you today.  If 500 people - our friends, their friends and our supporters - gave us just $78 each, we would be able to raise the money to meet our budget this year, support our staff, continue to host our planned exhibitions and provide a strong social media presence. There is no other way to say it except –

PLEASE SUPPORT WOMEN ARTISTS WITH A DONATION OF $78 TODAY!

We will get through this.  We will survive this.  We made it to 28 years, and we have plenty years left.  Stand beside us and help us get there!  We need you.

Stay safe, healthy and check on your friends and family!

In our deepest gratitude,

--
