STARTUP CANADA
APRIL 6th, 2020 UPDATE

Dear Startup Canadians,

We are all feeling the impact of COVID-19, and now, more than ever, is a time for our community to rally together, support one another, and remember the values we share.

As the national rallying voice for Canada’s 3.5 million entrepreneurs, Startup Canada is taking immediate action to connect with entrepreneurs and Startup Communities across the country and bring concerns, ideas and recommendations to government and industry leaders to make your voices heard. We welcome you to send us your input through this form.

We will continue to promote, inspire, educate, connect and give a voice to Canada’s entrepreneurs and we encourage you to keep pushing forward, innovating, and supporting one another in these difficult times.

Wishing you all the best,

CANIE AWARDS GOES DIGITAL

This spring, we’re launching the first CANIE Awards, bringing together two iconic Awards programs — the Startup Canada Awards and Ernest C. Manning Innovation Awards — under a new banner.

As important as it is to celebrate success, challenging times remind us that entrepreneurship is not a linear path. Entrepreneurship is also embedded with uncertainty, and learnings from failure. The CANIE Awards Program in 2020 aims to inspire entrepreneurs by showcasing stories of challenging times and demonstrating resilience while bringing awareness of the importance of community building to survive and grow through crisis.

In partnership with our Co-Presenting Partner Sovereign Insurance and UPS and National Partners Mastercard and Scotiabank the CANIE Awards recognize excellence in Canadian innovation and entrepreneurship.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S MONTH RECAP

International Women’s Month in March 2020 was a time to not only reflect on the incredible contributions women entrepreneurs have made to Canada, but to also celebrate the increasing trend of women entrepreneurs founding, leading, and growing their businesses.

Thank you to everyone who participated and our co-presenting partners Sovereign Insurance and BDC, and our National Partners Export Development Canada, Scotiabank, and UPS. We’re so grateful for your support of women entrepreneurs across Canada.
