We are thinking of you!

Dear Friends,  

You are all in our thoughts during this time.

The Tanglewood and Blueberry Cove staff are evaluating the COVID-19 situation and how it impacts our programs and our ability to accomplish our mission of serving you! 

At this time we are carrying through with our summer program plans and continuing to accept registrations for our summer season.

In support of our families during this trying time, we have scholarships available for Maine residents, and anyone can register without paying a deposit by choosing the “pay by check” option at checkout. This also helps us by not incurring credit card processing fees right now. If we do have to amend our summer schedule, we will provide 100% refunds for all payments that have been made.  

We are hopeful that we will see you all this summer.

Education and Resources

To help support families and teachers during this time, we are posting educational programs on our website.

Additionally, you can follow us on our Facebook pages (Tanglewood and Blueberry Cove) to see live videos of our observations of the natural world around us, showcasing various activities, and helping you build connections. Our daily “Neat Nature” photos on Facebook and our website challenge folks to slow down and take a breath to appreciate the changing world outside as spring awakens.

Cooperative Extension also has a resource page for families looking for educational information and activities to do with their children at home.

Food Safety Awareness

Given the vast amount of information that is being circulated related to food and the COVID-19 pandemic and the important role that Cooperative Extension plays to get current, research-based information out to our communities, we wanted to provide you with recommended resources. We have vetted resources from Extension colleagues throughout the country and are providing you with this list. These resources are specific to the current situation and include topics related to consumer issues such as shopping, take-out, storage, disinfecting, using foods on hand, etc. We hope you will find this resource of benefit to your own health and wellness.

A message from UMaine's State Director of 4-H Centers


Greetings friends of UMaine's 4-H Camps,

Like many of you, as I write this, my family and I are three weeks into the "new normal" following Governor Mills' directive to "stay healthy, stay home." In order to do our part for our communities, our 4-H Camp and Learning Centers, from Bryant Pond in Western Maine to Tanglewood and Blueberry Cove in the mid-coast, to Greenland Point in the lake country of Washington County, have suspended our spring schedule, canceling outdoor conservation and ecology programs for hundreds of students from dozens of Maine schools. As Tanglewood and Blueberry Cove's camp directors have noted above, we are eagerly anticipating the time when we can safely open the 4-H Camps back up and welcome campers and school groups.

To our many friends and supporters from camp alumni to parents and grandparents, to community members and organizations that support our mission: We need your support more than ever.

We know that this is a difficult time for all. If you are able to make a gift, there is no better time than now! In partnership with the Maine 4-H Foundation, gifts of support can be pledged online at the link below. Your unrestricted gift allows us to weather this unprecedented public health crisis and rebound smoothly when it's safe for us to go back to delivering our signature blend of outdoor fun, leadership development, and community building.
