CARES Act - $300 Charitable Deduction

  1. For non-itemizers in 2020: The CARES Act offers a charitable deduction of up to $300.
  2. For itemizers in 2020: The CARES Act increases the cap on annual giving from 60% of your adjusted gross income (AGI) to 100%.

Health Foundations - Spring Cleaning

These days, spring cleaning is taking on a whole new meaning for all of us and the mountain communities of Honduras are no exception. Recently, the Brigade's Honduras operations director, Nelson Martinez, spent time in the villages of Planes de la Nueva Esperanza, San Antonio, and Veracruz tackling a number of important priorities.

Working with community health workers (CHWs), our team helped them to establish clinic schedules for consultations, meetings, and cleaning assignments. The CHWs hope to meet with individual members of the villages, checking in with expecting mothers and speaking with families about proper hygiene for children. Nelson also delivered talks about personal and community hygiene, especially as it relates to stopping the spread of COVID-19.

Stories from the Field - Caring During COVID-19

Thanks to our staff and volunteers on the ground in Honduras, the Brigade continues caring across borders even in the midst of a pandemic. COVID-19’s got nothing on our team!

In March, we were able to deliver food donated Pack Away Hunger, sterile gloves and oxygen cannulas to our partner hospital Santa Teresa; medications like acetaminophen, zinc, prenatal vitamins and more, donated by the Brigade and Vitamin Angels, to our three mountain clinics; and install a new vaporizer on the anesthesia machine at Santa Teresa.
