This Sunday is Palm Sunday
Hosanna to the Son of David!
Blessed is he who comes in the name
of the Lord!
Hosanna in the highest heaven!
What is Palm Sunday and why does it matter?
I'm so glad you asked!
Palm Sunday starts off "Holy Week"--the week leading up to Easter Sunday. The short version: in fulfillment of a prophecy from the book of Zechariah, Jesus rides into Jerusalem on a borrowed donkey while the crowds shout "Hosanna in the Highest," welcoming him as King. Coats and palm branches are laid out in front of him, like a leafy red (green!) carpet.
But Church, this is no regular ol' king, parading in on a not-a-horse. The Jewish people, even some of the disciples still, are hoping--expecting--Jesus to come in, swords blazing, and take down the Roman government that has been so oppressive to their people. Instead, He weeps for them and their lack of sight, and then flips tables in the temple, combating religious extortionism instead of the Gentile government. He rides in to confront not the political powers, but the tyranny of sin and death that suffocates humanity. The sin and death that resides in our own human hearts, that we are powerless to reject, apart from Him. The sin and death that He will defeat in only a few short days from His triumphant entry.
There is joy in His coming, church. Hosanna in the highest Heaven! On Palm Sunday, we worship Jesus as the True King, above every other.
And this Sunday, this is just a foretaste of the glorious, full joy of His resurrection a week later.
Walk with us through Holy Week. Let's look to Jesus together.

Easter Bags for Kids
Saturday, April 4 | 10am-1pm
EASTER COMES TO YOU!!!
Hey Church! We are putting together an Easter bag of crafts and activities for the whole family to enjoy at home. Since we are unable to be together for Easter we wanted you to be able to enjoy something from the church with your family.
Here’s the plan: This Saturday, April 4th from 10am – 1pm, you can drive to the church and pick up your bag in a no contact sort of way. You can text or call Mindy @ 907.903.3265 and let her know you’re on the way and how many crafts you’ll need. The crafts are geared for ages 2-6th grade. When you arrive to the church (front building where the offices are) let Mindy know you are there. The bag will be brought out and set on the porch, then you can get out of your car and pick it up. This is to honor social distancing. If there is a car in front of you, please wait until they drive away to get out and get your bag.
If you are unable to come to the church to get the bag, please let Janel know (252.8853) and we will be sure to deliver you one! We have many people willing to deliver these bags, so don’t hesitate to ask for them to be brought to you.

Discipleship During Pandemics
Wednesday | April 8 | 7pm
What does it look like to follow Jesus during a quarantine? We always need close friends, but especially in a time of social distancing!
If you would like to learn more about how to effectively be a disciple and make disciples, join Dr. Keith Hamilton and Not-Even-Close-to-a-Dr. Justin Franchino for a discipleship discussion on this coming Wednesday, April 8th at 7pm on Zoom. We'll chat about practical steps to form intentional, meaningful discipleship with those you already have relationship with! Join us at for "Discipleship During Pandemics" here on Zoom.
Also, see the attached PDF for a discipleship guide, which could help you come prepared with questions!
Our charge to go into the world and make disciples doesn't stop because we're physically limited to our living rooms. Tune in Wednesday for a discussion on what discipleship-mid-pandemic could look like.
