Free or Low-Cost Internet and Phone Options
The following list is provided by School District 11 and is also available online on their Distance Learning Website.
Home Internet Service
- Comcast Internet Essentials: First two months free, then $9.95 per month for qualifying households. Apply online or call 1-855-846-8376.
- Comcast is expanding a service they already offer for low-income families called Internet Essentials. The service, which is normally $9.95 a month, will be free for new customers for 60 days and is 25 MBPS. People hoping to sign up for the services can call 1-855-846-8376 for English, and 1-855-765-6995 for Spanish.
- Spectrum Internet: 60 days of free access. Call 1-844-579-3743 to enroll.
- Spectrum is offering free Wifi and broadband access up to 100 MBPS to any household with K-12 and/or college students that doesn’t already have Spectrum. Installation fees will be waived for these households, and anyone wishing to enroll will need to call 1-844-488-8395.
- Cox isn’t providing free internet, but they are offering service at a discount for 60 days. New customers to their “Starter” package will pay $19.99 for 50 MBPS for 60 days. Their offer is valid through May 15.
Free Public Wi-Fi

Cell Phone Carriers
1. T-Mobile Customers: T-Mobile’s new "5G for Good" initiative is launching ahead of schedule for $15 per month, half the price of the company’s lowest smartphone plan. And Metro by T-Mobile is adding new, lower-cost options. Current customers also get unlimited smartphone data for the next 60 days (excluding roaming). Started March 20, providing T-Mobile and Metro by T-Mobile customers on smartphone plans with hotspot data an additional 20GB of smartphone mobile hotspot (10GB per bill cycle for the next 60 days) for each voice line. (T-Mobile Connect excluded).
2. Sprint Customers: Sprint is providing Unlimited data for 60 days to customers with metered data plans and giving 20 GB of free mobile hotspot to customers with hotspot-capable devices. Began March 18.
3. AT&T Customers: Public Wi-Fi hotspots open for public use.
