GSA Making a Difference!

Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatu Allahi wa barakatuh,

Please take a look at what our staff and students have accomplished during the month of March...we hope you enjoy reading this monthly recap!

Due to COVID-19, GSA activities and events from Mid-March until further notice, are cancelled.

Open House 2020
Our doors opened on Saturday, March 3rd to new parents for enrollment and campus tours. Some of our High School students volunteered by lending a helping hand. Our teachers also came out to meet and greet new parents.
National Honor and Junior Honor Society Induction Ceremony
  • New students that met the criteria were inducted into the National Honor and Junior Honor Society
  • Parents were invited and breakfast was served
  • Guest speaker, Samer Fidy
Spring Book Fair
  • The Spring Book Fair was the last event of the school year due to the Coronavirus
  • Our students purchased books to continue reading and learning at home
GSA FACES COVID-19 HEAD-ON
GSA Administration made sure students were prepared at home by handing out Chromebooks to those who needed them and text books for E-Learning
Chrome books and Textbooks Distribution
  • Parents drove up to pick up the items
  • The Administration practiced safe distancing
E-Learning
  • For the first time in GSA E-Learning was set up within days to accommodate continued learning at home due to school closures on Google Classroom
  • Teachers adapted quickly and are teaching students at home "live" with Google Meet
  • A survey was sent out to parents for feedback after the 1st day of E-Learning, the response was very positive
School Nurse, Sister Sheila D’Metayer, RN
  • Hearing, Vision, Growth and Development/BMI Screenings were completed for students in KG, 1st, 3rd, and 6th Grades.
Hand washing Demonstration 
March 11th and 12th. Presentation on the importance of proper handwashing  for all grades using Glo Germ given by the school nurse and Alexandra Jaouad
Box Tops Contest
The Classroom that turned in the most Box Tops is KG - $25.80
Runner-Ups: 3rd Grade - $20.80, Pre K 3 & Pre K 4 - $8.30

GSA earned a little over $700.00 from collecting Box Tops for the 2019-2020 school year. Please continue to clip those Box Tops.
Monthly Recycle Program
Pepsico Recycle Rally Contest at GSA

March Winners: 3rd Grade 2057 containers, KG 1542 containers
Sister Suzie/Upper School 1321 containers, 6th Grade 1010 containers

(To date, GSA recycled 25,744 Containers - 1044 pounds overall)
