Hi <<First Name>>,

We have started a new program to let our newsletter readers know about specific opportunities that they indicated an interest in.

Because you've indicated an interest in writing, we invite you to use your writing skills to support climate action in Thurston County. We need your help in the two areas described below: Newslettter Support and Thurston Climate Mitigation Plan Advocacy.
Newsletter Support

TCAT produces a weekly e-newsletter that includes a calendar of climate-related events and articles of interest to approximately 1,000 subscribers. (If you aren't receiving it, please see our troubleshooting tips, below.) You can view past issues here.

This is what we need help with:
  • Write an occasional article for our weekly newsletter.
  • Edit articles that have been submitted, for clarity, accuracy, and consistency with TCAT's Mission and Goals.
  • Briefly summarize articles from credible sources that are relevant to Thurston County and contribute to TCAT's Mission and Goals
  • Add events to the TCAT calendar.
If you are interested in contributing to the newsletter, please contact me at barb@thurstonclimateaction.org or reply to this email.

Thurston Climate Mitigation Plan Advocacy

The Cities of Olympia, Tumwater and Lacey, along with Thurston County, have committed to developing the Thurston Climate Mitigation Plan to reduce local greenhouse gas emissions by 45% from 2015 levels in 2030, and 85% in 2050.

TCAT had set out with a troupe of volunteers to give public testimony before the City Councils and County Commissioners, about the reasons to pass a strong Plan. However, the "Stay Home, Stay Healthy" order ground us to a halt, primarily because the jurisdictions have not arranged for public testimony other than through emails.

We will not be deterred!  We need the help of writers like you to:
  • Write letters to elected officials to support a strong plan.
  • Write letters to the editor about the plan.
If interested, please contact Lynn at lynn@thurstonclimateaction.org and consider attending the Zoom meeting tomorrow, April 2nd, at 1:00 pm (details below).

I hope you enjoy our weekly newsletter, which is usually sent out on Thursday mornings. It features a calendar of upcoming climate-related events, plus news and action alerts relevant to taking climate action in Thurston County.

If you aren't receiving our newsletter, please check your spam filter, and add "TCAT Climate News & Events" newsletter@tcat.news to your address book. If you have Gmail, you may need to check your social and promotions inboxes.

If you are no longer interested in volunteering to write for TCAT, please let me know and I will take you off this list.
