Unsurprisingly, this newsletter continues to be almost entirely coronavirus-related.
Data trackers
The Financial Times has been producing excellent trackers. Their latest update to it tracks the number of new cases by day, showing that Italy appears to be turning the corner.
Swedish television’s data team are tracking corona-related ICU cases in Sweden. Find out the age and gender breakdown of patients, as well as the proportion with underlying diseases.
For more Swedish data, our sister company Newsworthy is also teaming up with public service broadcaster Sveriges Radio to provide a daily Coronavirus tracker, broken down region by region. How many have died? How many are in ICU? And how are those numbers changing over time?
Mobile data
Using data from a mobile network operator, Helsingin Sanomat were able to show how Finns continued to travel, before Helsinki region was closed down, despite a recommendation not to.
Dagens Nyheter have also used mobile network data, to show how Swedes’ movement patterns have changed. Some areas in the city centre of Stockholm now have 70 percent fewer people about.
