Tech Tip
More than ever, please remember that ANY time you see a message on your computer telling you to call a phone number because something is wrong, it is ALWAYS a scam. I can't stress this enough. It is always fake. This also applies to any phone call or text message you receive out of the blue.
The only humorous part to me about this very unfunny practice is that the most common scam is for someone to pose as Microsoft, either calling you on the phone or giving you a message to call them. I find this funny because that is the LAST thing Microsoft wants. They go to extreme lengths to keep you from calling their support lines. For most products, they don't even have a phone line to call.
So, to summarize: it's always a scam. Hang up. Don't click. If you have ANY question about it, CALL ME FIRST! I won't charge you for the advice.
If you do get a popup telling you to call a number or go to a website, and you can't get rid of it, simply restart your computer and try to not go to the same site that brought it up before. If you can't get rid of it, give me a call.
