Protect yourself from COVID-19:
Stop smoking and vaping now 

- Dr. Elisa Tong

Dr. Elisa Tong from University of California, Davis reminds all the healthcare providers that the patients who smoke are at a higher risk for the COVID-19 virus. Here are Dr. Tong's main reasons why you should councel them to quit now: 
1. Smoking doubles [the] risk of developing respiratory infections
2. Smoking doubles [the] risk of getting sicker from COVID-19
3. Vaping can also harm lung health.

Resources below are available for all San Francisco residents looking to reduce their risk of respiratory infection while following the social distancing recommendations, from the safety of their home.  

The California Smokers’ Helpline provides FREE nicotine patches to callers from San Francisco.

Call California’s Smoker’s Helpline at 1-800-NO-BUTTS, 
for free phone counseling, and ask for your free nicotine patches for San Francisco residents.
SF Quits! Kits are still available and can be mailed directly to your clients! 

Clients can order at SFQuits.org
