My relationship with marble has always been one of deep resonance with time, expressed in its transcendent beauty and enduring presence in art and architecture throughout human history.
Having cycled through ancient geologic eras, marble exists on a unique timescale, coming to be from its Paleozoic, crystalline origins in a teeming, calcareous, oceanic earth. This powerful process of becoming creates a life force unique to any other material with which I work.
When transformed into new, life-springing abstract sculptures, the embodied sense of permanence and calm seem to radiate from the stone like warm light through a window. These subtle and celestial forces will carry us through time, no matter how bright or severe.
