Dear Friends,

As we continue to navigate this uncertain time, we're continuing to work with DC government and the private sector to elevate the needs of our children, youth and families; strengthen policy or funding solutions and generally keep on top of news you can use.

As always, if you have questions or resources you'd like to share with our community, please let us know. Otherwise, hang in there!!

Best,
Maggie

Paycheck Protection Loan Program

The Paycheck Protection Program prioritizes millions of Americans employed by small businesses by authorizing up to $349 billion toward job retention and certain other expenses.

Small businesses and eligible nonprofit organizations, Veterans organizations, and Tribal businesses described in the Small Business Act, as well as individuals who are self-employed or are independent contractors, are eligible if they also meet program size standards.

Virtual Events: DCAYA Advocacy All Calls

Thanks to everyone who joined our OST & Workforce All Call last week. We're in the process of refining what we heard and sharing the main takeaways (student supports, staff supports, technology gaps and lacking guidance from DC agencies on funding) to the right audiences. More to come.

We're holding at least two more sessions. The next session is focused on youth homelessness and social service needs. The third session later in April will be more specifically focused on what we're hearing for the FY21 budget.

Please RSVP today.

Resources & Reminders

Food Access Resources

The incredible folks at the DC Food Project have compiled a fantastic resource list of food access points for DC residents young & old, big and small. We encourage you to share widely. Their website also includes the DCPS and Charter feeding sites in both list and map form.

Low Cost Refurbished Computers for Students and Families in Need

Wilderness Tech Alliance (WTA) is a non-profit whose mission is to support technology workforce development for low income adults and students.  The first step is getting them access to technology and the Internet.

Since many of our schools will be implementing distance learning due to the COVID-19 virus, and many low income DC students do not own a computer, the WTA wants to help.

They are looking for partners who may be interested in taking advantage of this unique opportunity to get laptops and computers in the hands of children and youth who need them most via deep discounts on bulk (10 or more) orders.

Budget Agenda

After extensive community input, we're pleased to release our two primary budget advocacy asks for FY21. It's important to note that we are one group of many, and we encourage you to visit our friends at DC Action for Children, DC Fiscal Policy Institute, Children's Law Center and PAVE DC (among others!) to learn more about what they're fighting for in the year to come.

That’s it for now friends! As always, we're here if you need anything at all, so don't hesitate to reach out!
