Township Announcements

COVID-19 Update - The Township Committee and township staff hope that you and your loved ones are doing okay during this public health crisis. While Town Hall remains closed, you can still contact township employees, departments and officials by e-mail or phone. Please visit the Contact Us Web page.

As of 3 p.m., on Tuesday, March 31, a total of 14 township residents had tested positive for COVID-19. The increase in cases reflects the greater availability of testing, and does not mean social distancing isn't working. At this time, staying home as much as possible is vital. We will get through this, but we all have to play a part in it. Read more.

Information & Resources:

Senior Outreach - As part of the local response to the pandemic, Mendham Township launched a Senior Outreach Program to check in on older residents, especially those who live alone. Volunteers are available to help with grocery shopping or just checking in by telephone or e-mail on a regular basis. If you would like to add yourself or someone else to our list, please send an e-mail to outreach@mendhamtownship.org or call the non-emergency police number at: 973-543-5848. We are here to help!

Township News Page - It's hard to keep up with the overwhelming volley of information and headlines. Stay up to date on the latest news from the township, by visiting the Mendham Township
News & Announcements page.

Governor's Briefings - Our local public access channel run entirely by volunteers, Mendham TV, is re-broadcasting the daily coronavirus briefing given by Gov. Phil Murphy each night at 10 p.m. Mendham TV can be found on Channel 22 on Verizon and Channel 29 on Comcast.

2020 Census - Today, April 1, is Census Day! Now more than ever, we should all respond to the Census online, by phone, or by mail. Responses are kept confidential and private. It's the law! The results of the 2020 Census will help determine how hundreds of billions of dollars in federal funding flow into communities every year for the next decade. That funding shapes many different aspects of every community, no matter the size, no matter the location. When completing the census, you include everyone living in your home on April 1, 2020. If you can still respond after April 1.

Important Election Deadlines - As of today, the 2020 Primary Election is still scheduled for Tuesday, June 2. If you want to change your Party Affiliation to vote in the primary, you have until Wednesday, April 8 (or 55 days prior to the primary) to do so. Simply file a Political Party Affiliation Declaration form before the deadline. Download the form. You can also request a Vote by Mail Ballot at the Morris County Clerk's Website.

Deadline to Register to Vote - The last day to register to vote in the Primary Election is 21 days prior to the Election or Tuesday, May 12. Get more information about how to register to vote. Don't stand on the sidelines, vote!

First Responder News

First Aid Squad Update - Our all-volunteer First Aid Squad is working in close and ongoing consultation with government and health officials to ensure that they remain prepared not only for the COVID-19 pandemic, but for other serious injuries and illnesses 24/7. They aim to provide the highest level of emergency medical service to patients, while protecting the health of all first responders and the local police. This requires a few changes to what residents may have experienced in the past:

  • When you dial 911, the dispatcher may ask additional questions to better inform responders about the emergency.

  • It is likely that only one first responder will enter your home initially to assess the emergency.

  • Expect first responders to wear masks and other protective gear for everyone's safety.

  • Expect a few minutes of extra response time for the donning of protective gear, before they enter a home.

If you or any member of your household is feeling unwell, self-quarantine at the first sign of illness. Do not hesitate to call 9-1-1 in case of a medical emergency.

Fun for Families & Kids
Time for a Hike! - Schiff Nature Preserve remains open to the public for hiking, biking, and walking. However, all guided hikes, educational and recreational programs are canceled, and the Nature Center is closed, until further notice. Please assist Schiff in maintaining a safe and clean open space for all to enjoy by carrying in and out all waste and (as always) keeping pets on leashes during this busy time. And, do your best to follow public health guidelines and avoid congregating. Remember, when using trails, do not walk in groups (other than family members). Practice proper social distancing, and remain at least six feet away from any companions!

Virtual Library - The township Library is offering a wealth of resources up in the cloud to keep you and your family entertained and busy, while indoors. The Library is offering a private cloud exclusively for patrons! Check out everything that's available online.
