Dixon Campus

Dear Parent/Guardian,                                                                  April 2, 2020

We are into our third week of school closure and I am still adjusting to the changes in my routine but my waking patterns remain the same. I continue waking up at 5:30 A.M.,  but instead of rushing into my to-do list I wrote the night before, I intentionally stay in my bed longer. While laying, I practice quieting my mind, enjoying the stillness, and giving gratitude. Now I am finding myself with  more energy and an increased curiosity to explore new things. I am sure that many of you are also having trouble adjusting to new routines and forming new habits. It is reasonable to feel this way. It is my hope that you take time for yourself by enriching aspects of your life that you have neglected due to lack of time. Through this process, I also hope you experience moments of  happiness and gratefulness for all the wonderful things you and your family have. We are very fortunate even during this time of uncertainty.

Next week, April 6th-10th, we will honor our previously scheduled Spring Break.  This means teachers will not be posting new or additional material during this week. Teachers will also not be required to keep their daily virtual office hours.  This doesn’t mean that our students have to stop working on the materials that our teachers have already provided to support learning at home. The choice of whether to continue working on unfinished assignments or to take a break belongs to each family. Also take the opportunity to take a look at all the wonderful activities on our ISL Enrichment site! I enjoyed greatly visiting the British Museum  and exploring virtual field trips in the Art Google Site. You and your family can sing along with Mr. Holder or dance while washing hands with Ms. Liz. If you prefer something more energetic, you can join the Zumba Dance with Coach H. There are lots of fun  activities to do next week. Whichever you choose to do, please submit your photo (2nd Grade) to Ms. Vanessa F vfung@isl-edu.org or  (k & 1st Grades) to Katherine Weddle, kweddle@isl-edu.org,  (Art Teachers) to include your memories in our upcoming Virtual Art Show 2020.

Please continue to check the ISL website for the latest information and log on to the ISL Family page for essential resources.  We are updating this page on a regular basis and will continue to do so in order to provide our ISL families with resources and support.

Atentamente,
