How are Life Plan Communities
Dealing with Covid-19?

 
Dear Friends,
 
Even though you are staying at home to help slow the spread of Covid-19 we hope you are doing well and getting help from friends, neighbors, or groups like Redwood Coast Village.
 
The Life Care Humboldt (LCH) group has done some research to see what is it like in a life plan community during these times.
 
The “Senior Housing News” reports that most life plan communities have protocols in plans for viral outbreaks and they generally take decisive action early to limit the risk to the residents.  They have plans for isolation and support of residents who develop signs and symptoms of Covid-19. 
 
Outside visitors are limited or banned.  The number of entrances to the common facilities are limited to allow for screening staff and service personnel for symptoms of Covid-19 prior to entering.  Meals are delivered to homes or provided as “take out”.  Facilities are helping residents sign on to use Skype or FaceTime to connect with their families. 
 
We received a report from Willamette View that exercise classes, board games and meetings are conducted by zoom video conferencing.  Even with the closing of social activities and group dining, residents are grateful that these measures are being implemented with their best interests in mind.

Here in Humboldt the LCH board continues to make progress on our own local life plan community.

We will soon be sending you our board member’s personal bios to give you an idea why we have all committed to this project. We are also looking at ways we can hold some virtual “house meetings” through Zoom so people can learn more about Life Care Humboldt.
