Dear IOM patient –

We are reaching out during this challenging time because we are concerned for you, and find ourselves limited in the ways we can care for you when we are not there in person.  As always, we want to be sure to support you in your oral and overall health in any way we can so we are expanding and exploring options for how best to serve you.  Great oral health is critical to help your body resist disease and to avoid any unwanted medical issues. Oral hygiene as part of overall health is vital right now.

Here is a list of some very important to do’s:

  1. Keep up with your daily routine!
Cleaning the tops and sides of the teeth with your hand held brush or power brush are critical to remove harmful bacteria.  Having a time tested method to clean “in-between” the teeth is even more important.  Be sure your tooth brush or power brush heads are fresh and you are keeping up with inter-proximal bacterial removal with floss, pics, in between brushes or your Waterpik.
  2. If you are in some “stage” of active dental treatment
Keep up with your daily self-care and products, especially those of you in active periodontal/gum treatment or cavity management. Do not run out of products or change the recommended home care sequence until directed otherwise. If you have temporaries or provisional restorations in place clean them like normal, the extended wear period will not hurt anything.
  3. Need products?
Rinses, pastes, and replacement parts are still available through the mail or can be picked up.  Email us with requests, we can coordinate payment and pick up. You can also utilize our Get Healthy Store for some recommended maintenance products.
  4. Questions about maintaining oral health until your next hygiene visit?
    Email clinical@ioralmed.com or info@ioralmed.com.
  5. Prefer to talk to us in person?
For a more comprehensive consultation we can schedule a virtual meeting with one of our doctors or hygiene specialists. We can do this by mobile phone, iPad, computer or other electronic communication device.  As part of health care moving forward Teledentistry, Telehealth and Telehealth Education will become part of the normal landscape.  Fees for these visits are now customary and are being reimbursed by some insurance companies but most of these encounters are paid for out of pocket.  You can expect $75.00 for a thirty minute call and anything longer than that will be quoted to you and you will be informed of the amount that will be posted to your account. Most of us are not accustomed to interacting this way however it will become necessary to have our health needs met going forward.

Through all this, we remain here for you. Please contact us with questions and concerns.

Please if you think you may be in need of urgent treatment call Dr. Thompson 248-224-4888 or Dr. Shah 734-277-7495. We look forward to hearing from you and hopefully seeing you in the near future. Stay safe and be well!

Warmly,
Doug Thompson, Dr. Shah and the Integrative Oral Medicine Team
