Adopt a Tree in Need

Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) plants a lot of trees. But did you know we grow our own stock too? Each year the CVC nursery in Caledon grows approximately 20,000 - 25,000 native trees and shrubs for use in the CVC watershed. We even have a small selection of herbaceous plants.

You’ve likely met a CVC tree. Our trees are planted on public lands by our community volunteers and restoration teams. They're used in restoration projects in our conservation areas, and they're also planted on farm, rural, residential and corporate properties across the watershed. Last year we planted more than 4,000 trees and shrubs for private landowners as part of our Potted Plants Program.

Our nursery team nurtures tiny seedlings or plugs purchased from local Ontario suppliers until they’re ready for adoption. This can take up to two years. A small portion of our stock also comes from seed collected by staff from within the Credit River Watershed. Now that’s local!

If you’ve been dreaming of green all winter long, consider adopting some native tree and shrub species for your property. Our staff will help match your property with the right native trees in need. We’ll create a custom planting plan, deliver the stock and plant it for you. Eligible landowners can save 60-85 per cent on their planting projects when they work with CVC. Fill out this online form to get started.
Credit Valley Conservation continues to monitor the latest COVID-19 developments and is taking steps to keep our partners, vendors and staff safe. Our spring planting window may be delayed or deferred to the fall. Our staff are working remotely to provide information and prepare planting plans so they are ready to plant when it’s safe again to do so.
