Note from Linda

Dear friends,
This Sunday is Palm Sunday. For Sunday-only churchgoers, the triumphant entry celebrated on Palm Sunday gives way to the triumphant resurrection the next Sunday—Easter—skipping over (to the relief of many) all the human drama in between. In light of the lived experience we are all currently sharing, that of the worldwide pandemic, does the story of Holy Week have any relevance today? As I have pondered, and meditated, and prayed about this, I have come to see that we are living Holy Week—the whole world is living Holy Week. We are living the fullness of the human condition, the ups and downs, the bewildering moments, the desire to have the "cup taken from us." We watch as Good Friday plays out for thousands across the globe. We wait as those who also waited on Holy Saturday, not knowing, when, precisely how things will be restored. The story of Holy week gives us context for how to navigate moments just as these. I invite you to join us this Sunday in a most remarkable journey through the events of this High Holy Week. Also make plans to participate in the healing meditation led by our own Rebecca Zambrano online at 1:00. Details about this mediation can be found below. It will be a perfect compliment to our Sunday service and a healing balm in this historical moment.

I can't wait to "see" you on Sunday and read your chats. I read everyone of them and they fill me with so much joy!

With awe and much reverence, Linda

A Note from our Treasurer - Dean Saulmon

The $2.2 trillion “Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act” (CARES) became law on March 27, 2020. Buried in this 900-page document is a section that encourages Americans to contribute to churches and charitable organizations in 2020 by permitting them to deduct up to $300 of cash contributions, whether they itemize their deductions or not. You might want to take advantage of this incentive to donate to UCOG.
