Hello Everyone, Hello!!!
How is everyone doing out there !?! How are you holding up in these difficult times? Such scary and wild times.
Hands up. How many of you are wondering how long this going to last?? Postponed is the operative word.
March has been a month of ups and downs. As many of you know, I was prepping for my first museum solo show at Cedar Rapids Museum of Art. The install date was supposed to be the end of April. At this time, the show has been postponed. Because none of us know when life will get back to "normal", I'll be sure to keep you in the loop.
Even though I don't know when the show will happen, I'm still working towards it. I've been really lucky to have use of a temporary studio to create the installation. For those of you who don't know The Cherry Bldg. It's an old factory building in the New Bo district of Cedar Rapids. Most of the spaces are filled with artists and small businesses. When I first rented the space, I was a little worried I'd have so much fun talking to all the artists, I wouldn't get anything done. Ever since the virus took hold, the building has been a ghost town. I think I've seen two people in three weeks. That's made it possible for me to do a modified "self isolation" of going from home to the studio and back.
Things on the installation are starting to gel. So far, I've painted over 200 ft of dura-lar, gotten some panels up on the wall, started moving things around, and know what other colors I need. Working this large has been extremely challenging. It's a lot more physical.
As we move through April, I'm sending you virtual hugs. I hope you and your loved ones are staying healthy, safe, and well.
