Seun Kuti (Fela's youngest son) shares his insights on what he believes should've been Nigeria's response to the current pandemic - and he's not wrong.
The average Nigerian is at risk from starvation and more as a result of this lockdown, but decades long govt. theft, looting and greed means there's not other option but to allow these ordinary folks to die in order to save the majority of lives. The president himself (a "captain" known to regularly abandon his ship) often flies to the UK for medical treatment... and that says it all. So ironically the single biggest threat to any such African-focused solution which Kuti speaks of, is the Nigerian Govt. itself.
This post from Indian Medic illustrates the privilege of being able to lockdown in peace.
