GGD Newsletter For April 1, 2020

As you’ve likely seen sweeping across news headlines, we are currently experiencing an unprecedented event. The COVID-19 viral outbreak. This virus has had MASSIVE impacts on society as a whole, as well as individual families and businesses. The financial markets are shattered and many of us have lost loved ones. This pandemic is truly rocking the entire world. As a result, many of us are nervous about the future. The economy is slowly grinding to a halt and the financial markets are in total disarray. Simply put, things aren't looking too bright right now. However, as dire as things may seem, there is still a silver lining to the dark clouds surrounding us. As we traverse these trying times, we in the GGD household, believe that the adversity we are currently facing will ultimately be a catalyst to bring us all closer together, thus moving humankind toward a better world.

In the meantime, we must each do our part by practicing safe social distancing (in order to "flatten the curve"). Let's be sure that this period of isolation doesn't go to waste. Our plan is to meditate, reenergize, exercise, read, write, and reflect so that when things get back to normal, we will emerge from this crisis much stronger of mind, body, and spirit, than when we went in!

Monthly Financial Update (Full Breakdown):
We are certainly living in interesting times! This month we suffered the largest month-over-month drop in our portfolio's value since we started tracking it in 2017. A massive -10.56% fall! Still, we are not overly concerned. As we've noted many times, the stock market always goes up (eventually)! After such a precipitous plunge, however, we are now down to 58.5% of our retirement goal.
