COVID-19: SNSW advice

Swimming NSW understands the major disruptions that the current COVID-19 situation is causing for all our clubs and members. From changes to how clubs can operate in the current environment to the longer-term financial implications, the COVID-19 impact on sport at all levels will be significant. As such, we want to provide as much support and information as possible to assist clubs throughout this difficult time.

We will regularly update our dedicated COVID-19: SNSW advice page with current government advice and health recommendations (as relevant to our sport) and this is also a place where we will provide tips, advice and information to help clubs navigate this challenging time. This will include such things as the support available to clubs through the state and federal government, as well as help with governance issues, like running your AGM.

Swimming NSW will remain operational throughout the months ahead and we encourage our members to reach out at any time they need support.

Please note: The key focus of the Government's increasing restrictions is on keeping people separated. This is extremely important at this time and we encourage all of our members to comply with this advice.

Changes to the Swim League 2020 season
The government’s necessary response to the COVID-19 situation has temporarily put the brakes on all swimming competitions, swim club activity, squad training and Swimming NSW events. As such, we have made some changes to the upcoming Swim League 2020 Season that was scheduled to commence on 9 and 10 May 2020.

Local Sport Defibrillator Grant Program closing soon
The Local Sport Defibrillator Grant Program provides NSW sports clubs and councils the opportunity to acquire an AED package for their club or sports facility at a reduced cost. An AED is a life-saving device which delivers a controlled shock to an individual experiencing cardiac arrest, increasing their chances of survival.

Applications close at 5 pm, Wednesday 8 April 2020.

Tips to help swimmers stay fit and motivated

With all swimming pools closed, the options for swimmers to train in the water have all but dried up. This is only temporary and we hope that our swimmers will all be back in the pool in the not too distant future. In the meantime, we have created a new resource to help swimmers maintain their fitness and stay motivated until they can return to the pool. Please feel free to share this resource with your club members.

We'll continue to share more great ideas for our swimming community over the coming weeks and months.
