Celebrating Sanford Strong

Sanford Porchfest and Sanford365 invite you to celebrate our resilient, lovely city by decorating your porch with scenes of hope, happiness and neighborly love. Lets show the world that we aren't alone in this time of self-isolation and uncertainty.

From Friday, March 27 through Sunday, April 5 (and beyond?), decorated porches throughout all of Sanford will lend a smile to neighbors and friends as we celebrate each other and our city. An ongoing map of the decorated homes will be available for you to walk, bike or drive to view. Additionally, we will post photos of the homes on this page for anyone unable to travel. Join us as we radiate #porchlovehappiness

👇 NEW ON THE BLOG - Locals Supporting Local #PICKUPSANFORD 👇

As the convener and catalyst for the business community, the Orlando Economic Partnership, along with the Orlando Regional Chamber and Orlando Tech Council, is working to align the region with one voice when it comes to supporting local businesses. That's why they started the #PickUpOrlando social media campaign encouraging community members to tell everyone how they “pick up” their community and support local business during this crisis.

We think this is a great idea and decided to join this campaign using #PickUpSanford on our posts to spread the positive message. Just as the Orlando Economic Partnership, we want to simply encourage everyone to creatively support and patronize our small business community during these challenging times - and we know that Sanfordites already are real experts at that!

Here's what the challenge includes:

Tell us how you “pick up” Sanford!
Post a photo of yourself supporting a local business and tag 3 friends to do the same.
Use the verbiage “I support (name of business or organization) and use hashtag #PickUpSanford. Please also use #PickUpOrlando to reach an even larger audience and spread the Sanford Love!

Please share your photos on Instagram using the hashtags #Sanford365 and #PickUpSanford, send us a message on Facebook or simply fill out our contact form HERE.

For a good laugh...We recommend everyone check out how Getty Museum in Los Angelas as they have challenged their followers to dig into Getty's online collections and re-create artworks with objects at home, inspired by the Instagram account @tussenkunstenquarantaine aka "Between Art and Quarantine".

While we want to do our very best in continuing to support our local businesses during this time, everyone's health comes first, so please be sure to follow the CDC Guidelines.
The City of Sanford recommends following the Center for Disease Control guidelines:

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, then discard the tissue.
Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
Avoid close contact with people who are sick. If you are sick, stay home and practice “social distancing.”

"Introducing the Great Sanford Bear Hunt of 2020! 🧸

Linda Kuhn had the great idea of implementing this fun idea in Sanford. The premise: this is a social distancing-approved activity you can do with children to get them out of the house. Whether you walk or drive, they can 'hunt' for adorable bears in windows or on porches! This map shows all of the participating homes in or around the downtown residential historic district. Have fun and don't forget to keep your 6' distance! ❤️"
