COMMUNITY INFORMATION
Looking for Ways to Support the Businesses in Richmond Beach?
We Heart RB is a new web page which supports local businesses. It lists the Richmond Beach restaurants open for takeout, which places have gift cards and which service providers are still taking clients. Please take some time to review the new web page. https://richmondbeachwa.org/weheartrb.php

Please Consider Sponsoring a Business
The Richmond Beach Community Newspaper is looking for individuals to sponsor the advertisers in the newspaper. Many of the paper’s regular advertisers are currently closed and the RBCN is seriously concerned about the sustainability of the paper. We are looking for ways to supplement the income of the paper without having to ask a small business for money right now. If you are a regular customer of some of the local advertisers, please consider adopting them. Details can be found on the new We Heart RB web page at https://richmondbeachwa.org/weheartrb.php

Creating a Neighborhood Safety Net
The 4 Corners Association is made up from the four neighborhoods, which touch at the corner of Richmond Beach Road and 8th Avenue NW. We are HillwoodInnis ArdenRichmond Beach, and Richmond Highlands.  The Association has created a Safety Net guide that will help you build, a secure communication network for your immediate neighbors, which can be used in emergencies and an easy way of getting to know those around you.

A Safety Net Coordinator is someone who takes the initiative to get the ball rolling. The steps are all laid out for you and neighborhood representatives of the 4 Corners Association are willing to provide additional instructions and to answer any questions you may have.

Here are the basic steps:
  1. Distribute the following “Know your NeighborsResident Information form along with your personalized version (you will be the Safety Net Coordinator) of the sample cover letter and contact information to neighbors near you—typically 5-10 nearby homes.
  2. Compile the returned Resident Information and create a list of residents’ names, addresses, and text/phone numbers. This can be simple list or get creative with a map like the one shown as an example.
  3. Distribute compiled list or map back to all your neighbors. The easiest way would be to send information via email or text as an introduction to the net you created.
  4. Contact your 4 Corners Captain at 4Corners.SafetyNets@gmail.com to let us know you’ve stepped up to be your Block’s Safety Net Coordinator. Be sure to indicate which Neighborhood you’re in.
This is the time to build your safety net, you will want it in place before the next major event comes our way. It takes a few minutes and a little effort on your part, but you will be so thankful that you took the time now for the future. Online versions of directions and sample forms can be downloaded at http://TinyURL.com/4Corners-Safety-Net

RBCA SCHOLARSHIP
The Richmond Beach Community Association (RBCA) is happy to announce that it will be offering a $500 scholarship to a high school senior currently living in the Richmond Beach community.  The scholarship may be applied to the cost of tuition and fees, books or supplies required for courses of instruction at the educational institution chosen by the student.  The scholarship will be paid by RBCA directly to the educational institution, for the use of the scholarship recipient once enrolled.
Qualified students are those who are planning to pursue full-time continuing education through a technical program, community college or a university in the coming (2020) academic year.  More information and application instructions can be found at http://richmondbeachwa.org/scholarship/

RBCA VOLUNTEER DATABASE SURVEY AND DATABASE UPDATE
The RBCA is using the Stay Home, Stay Healthy order to update our very old membership/volunteer list and migrate it into a more useful system. We know that your time is valuable so we hope you will take this two-minute survey to determine whether you are a dues-paying ($20/annually) member or not. We also want to know about your level of interest in volunteering for the 12+ events we have every year (though not this year – thanks to COVID-19). This survey is very specific and won’t be a waste of your time! We promise it won’t hurt and we won’t contact your if you say go away. Plus – you are already sheltering in place, so what else were you going to do for the next two minutes?
It takes a village to do these events and we’d like to engage our volunteers in a way that works for them…this will help us do that.
