Level 4 and volunteering - clarification of who can operate
Volunteers working under the direction of an essential service provider are able to continue working following COVID 19 health advice, and the organisation's operational guidelines.
Anyone tasked by their Civil Defence Emergency Management (CDEM) team are considered to be an essential service. Examples in our area of this include Salvation Army, Community Networks, Happiness House and ourselves - Volunteering Central.
Established support networks between friends, family and neighbours can continue following all COVID 19 guidelines, however community initiatives that are coordinating volunteers that are not known to each other are urged to filter all requests of support through to the QLDC Welfare Registration Form (on their website) where, if appropriate, they will be connected to a screened and inducted volunteer who is permitted to work under the essential service provider banner.
