The launch of the Future Fund for startups
Over the past weeks I have been working with the Chancellor's team and leading industry figures to develop a package to help the plight of Britain's great tech startups, a group who were unable to access the help and support being offered through this unprecedented crisis.
It is great news that today the Chancellor has unveiled a new world leading £1.25 billion comprehensive package which includes a £500 million Future Fund to support these startups. This will be vital to the economy both locally and nationally in the coming months and years.
The Future Fund is compromised of £250 million from Government combined with equal match funding from private investors. You are eligible if your business:
- can attract the equivalent match funding from third party private investors and institutions.
- has previously raised at least £250, 000 in equity investment from third party investors in the last 5 years.
Further detail on eligibility criteria and fund operation will be announced in due course.
Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme
The Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme will be extended by one month until June to reflect continuing social distancing measures, see more information here.
The online service is now open for you to make a claim for your furloughed employee's wages. You can access the service here.
You will need to apply by 22 April 2020 to receive the money before the end of the month.
Guidance for charities
Last week the Government announced a £750 million package of support for frontline charities. Charities will also be able to access many of the measures the Chancellor previously announced for businesses. See more information here.
