Transforming our understanding of how social, cultural and community assets can support mental health

MARCH Network Newsletter
April 2020

The MARCH Network is all about community and connection. We are all acutely aware of the impact of not being able to reach out and support our communities in the traditional way. Our April newsletter highlights how music, culture, art, nature, books/reading and online communities have been supporting people through the pandemic. You can find more inspiring ideas on our Creative Isolation page, which has had over 25,000 visitors in the past week alone. We have also signposted in our policy section some of the excellent support mechanisms that have sprung up to ensure community organisations survive.

In addition to providing these resources to our members, MARCH has been supporting the Covid-19 Social Study, which is tracking the psychological and social impact of the pandemic on people living in the UK. We now have over 75,000 participants, but are still seeking more, so do help us spread the word. Results from the study are published weekly on our website and are being shared with key decision makers nationally and internationally.

Our current funding call will still go ahead as planned. We have provided additional guidance on preparing your application in light of the Covid-19 pandemic and how our funds can be used to support research relating to the pandemic.  Read more here.

We will be hosting a Plus Funds Twitter Chat on Wednesday 22 April from 2-3pm. Do join us if you have any questions or would like to connect with other partners #MARCHPlusFunds

We remain available to MARCH Network members for support during this unique time. It is heartening to see our member organisations and MARCH Special Interest Research Groups coming together to support communities.  We know that social, cultural and community assets will play a key role not only in helping us to get through this crisis, but also in helping to rebuild society moving forward.
