Dear JAI Members and Friends of JAI,

You are all warmly invited to our second virtual JAI Cafe. The first Cafe event on April 13th featured Isaac Brynjegard-Bialik and a very engaging presentation of his paper cuts based on Jewish subject matter which also  make inspired use of classic comic book material.

We are very pleased that our second JAI Cafe on Monday evening, April 27th at 7:00 o'clock will feature a studio tour with JAI member Nancy Goodman Lawrence. She uses paint, maps, ink, graphite, vintage wrapping paper, and beads to create work that suggests imaginary or surreal landscapes. She is interested in the formalities of picture making as well as the narratives that lie beneath the surface. Please join us for the second in this wonderful series that goes to the heart of a studio practice.

Watch for an email notice on Wednesday the 22nd with instructions for joining us online for the next episode of... JAI Cafe!

The first JAI Cafe was well received as Isaac Brynjegard-Bialik took us on a tour of his studio, and shared insights into the inspiration for his paper art. We had a wonderful turnout.  Members attended from as far away as Washington D.C. and from Santa Barbara to Dana Point. View a gallery of Isaac’s work on his website: nicejewishartist.com

We plan to make the JAI Cafe a regular event. Thanks to the JAI Board for organizing the Cafe and creating an informative way to connect given that we'll be socially distant. Special thanks to Melinda Smith Altshuler, Randi Matushevitz and Isaac Brynjegard-Bialik.

Watch for the next newsletter for how to RSVP for the JAI Cafe on April 27th.

We look forward to welcoming everyone at the Cafe and connecting with all of you again, soon, and... we are planning to video future Cafe sessions to make them available to all JAI members and friends of JAI.
Congratulations to Gail Glikmann
