On Wednesday 1 April, the Acting Minister for Sport, Dr Geoff Lee, announced the establishment of a Sport and Recreation Sector Recovery Working Group.
This Recovery Working Group brings together representatives from the government and the sport and recreation sector to collaboratively work on current issues and solutions for the sector during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
The group will be coordinated by the NSW Office of Sport and Sport NSW, and includes representatives from a range of different sized State Sporting Organisations and State Sporting Organisations for people with Disabilities.
The representatives are Carolyn Campbell (Chairperson, Sport NSW), Steve Loader (CEO, Sport NSW), David Trodden (CEO, NSW Rugby League), Steven Pearce (CEO, Surf Life Saving NSW), Kirin Lindop (CEO, Athletics NSW), Margot Harley (CEO, Rowing NSW) and Murray Elbourn (Chairperson, NSW Goalball and Disability Inclusion Manager, Sport NSW).
These representatives will act and advocate on behalf of the entire sport sector, aiming to develop solutions that help organisations and other peak bodies work through the current times and prepare for the return of sport.
