NTVLC news

Hi Everyone, here is another newsletter for this month. Its Easter Sunday, but not as usual.
We don't have our family around hunting for eggs in the garden, nor a long Easter lunch to look forward to this year. We will celebrate in a different way, but it will be just a good, and even better next year, we hope.
Anyway to Landcare business. Yesterday, luckily just before the power went out for the rest of the day, the group executive had a zoom meeting and discussed where to next for the group.
We had a good look at the finances and discovered there was a bit of money available to fund small projects around the district.
So we are looking for members to do some small projects around their properties, whilst they have time on their hands, and proper planting weather.
Write to us by return email and tell us what you would like to do. Members who have already applied for a 50 tree grant may want to double up the order and expand their projects.
If you have a direct seeding project you might like to do in spring also let us know, as we can order the seed and help you with advice to get the site preparation done for a spring planting.
It is definitely planting time for tubestock, so we would like to have the orders with the nursery by 25th of April, which only gives you 2 weeks so get onto it!
Please ring Jill on 0419 382379, Sue on 0432 379 119 if you would like to talk about your tree needs and/or need a little help with project ideas.
cheers for now,
Jill

Bird Monitoring

We are not group monitoring at the moment due to Covid-19 restrictions.
We have been moving forward with the rail trail sign which is at the sign makers. We will let you know when it goes up beside the Black Spur Creek Bridge. Here's a sneak preview. https://indd.adobe.com/view/f5624a53-e302-4ac0-812e-aeb6802ef663
Black Spur Creek Wetland project updates.
I have updated the website with project updates from Kate. If you want to know what's going on with the area check it out here

MEMBERSHIP

A few of our members have not renewed their membership. At last years AGM we made membership a three year term and set the fees ($45 plus GST) to just recover the cost of insurance and registration with Landcare Victoria Inc.
You may wonder why this is necessary, and why we can't give tree grants (for example) to non members.
We are a voluntary non-incorporated body and rely on membership of Landcare Victoria Inc to cover us in the case of a member having an accident during a Landcare activity.  This also includes picking up trees, tree planting working bees if we were allowed to have them, as well as the more obvious meetings and farm walks.
Membership keeps us incorporated with Landcare Victoria, and allows us to apply for grants and do the other things Landcare is valued for. As Landcare Victoria represents most Landcare groups in the State, it can organise insurance and lobby Government for funding with economies of scale, and authority of numbers.
We rely on them for advice when doing vaguely legal things such as rules of association and finances and value their expertise.
Thank you to those members who have paid up this year.  If you haven't please consider rejoining, you will get the next few months until the end of the financial year free! https://www.nerrenatarwinvalleylc.org.au/page/about-join/
