Tanzania - Notes from the Journey 1
School Kids
Notes from Linda Voss, GLK Volunteer:

Gayle, her sister Elizabeth, and I traveled to Bukoba, Tanzania in March to visit the students, families, schools, and trustees of the GLK Student Fund.  It was a very busy eight days in Bukoba, plus four tough days of travel there and back.

We had not been able to visit Tanzania for a few years due to family and other obligations in the US, so we were very happy to make this trip ahead of the pandemic that has since closed down most countries.  The world changed a lot while we were gone.  When I left home in March, there had been one COVID-19 case in Michigan and less than 1,000 total in the US.  When we returned, most of the world was in a lockdown. I truly believe God was watching over us as we traveled and completed our work in Tanzania, and returned home safely.

Notes from Elizabeth Porter:

The trip to Tanzania was amazing. Travel to and from East Africa was long and complicated although very entertaining.  We saw God's hand of provision, protection and blessing throughout.  Gayle and Linda were wonderful traveling partners.  The children and parents we met with were pure joy.  We will be sharing more with you on this in the near future.

We continue to be grateful that so many of you partner with GLK Student Fund to effect genuine change in so many lives.

Notes from Gayle Kliever:
Our time in Bukoba was filled with hard work, precious students, thankful family members, happy graduates, demanding travel, and productive meetings with the scholarship fund trustees and field representative.  The daily experience was overwhelming. Trustees presented ever more worthy and needy candidates for scholarship assistance.  It is hard to refuse true need.  Each student presented a unique situation and study goal.  The nmber of scholarship students continues to rise.

The three of us left Tanzania knowing that the scholarships granted to our students are life changing and the need is still great.
