Reminder: Remote learning begins on Monday, April 13th.

Dear Henry R. Clissold Elementary School Parents and Families,

We hope this finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy. Although this is a time of uncertainty, we are committed to providing high-quality learning experiences for all of our students at Henry R. Clissold Elementary School. We are writing today to share our plan to support your child's remote learning while school is closed until April 30th.

Your partnership, feedback, and collaboration are critically important to support your child’s engagement in remote learning. Please take a few moments to read below for information about our plan, expectations for your child, and the ongoing communications and assistance we will provide to keep students engaged, learning, and healthy while schools are closed.

What is Henry R. Clissold Elementary School’s plan to provide remote learning for my student during the closure?

Our teachers will provide their students daily learning activities and will be available for at least two hours every day to keep students connected and engaged until school re-opens. Your child will also receive regular communication and feedback from their assigned teacher on learning activities. Please view our schools Remote Learning Plan  or school website to view your child's lesson plans and their teachers daily availability.

What are the school’s expectations for my child while learning at home?

During this time, the focus is to encourage students to stay engaged in academic activities and to reinforce learning on a daily basis. Routine, encouragement, and aligned expectations between families and teachers are important factors of academic engagement in your home learning environment.

Students are expected to complete assignments. Teachers are able to grade work, while grades cannot negatively impact a student’s academic standing, students who do not engage in academic work can be issued an incomplete. Students issued an incomplete will have the opportunity to make-up the incomplete following the remote learning period.

How do I access the plan and materials?

Our remote learning plan for families and students here Remote Learning Plan  or school website . Materials are also available for by appointment if you or your child do not have easy access to a computer. Please complete this form to request non-digital materials.

What communications and guidance can my child and I expect?

Families will receive ongoing school-wide communications as well as a regular schedule for communication and feedback between your child and their teacher(s).

Thank you for going above and beyond to support your child during this difficult time. Please continue taking care of each other and yourselves as we face this health crisis together. We know there are many unknowns ahead of us, but we will do whatever it takes to keep our school community safe, healthy, and engaged during this time.

Sincerely,

Principal Marion

Remote Learning Technology Support

We are currently in the process of reviewing the technology that is currently in the building and providing updates to the network about Clissold's need for additional technology support.  As a reminder, we are not a 1:1 device school and this puts us at a disadvantage of some schools who have an abundance of technology already on hand. We will be providing an update and ways for parents to inform us of their individual needs once we receive guidance from Central Office.  Please continue to complete the requested form so that we can provide accurate data.

For students in PreK - 8th grade, they must claim their e-mail address, if they have not done so already.

On April 13th, every assignment will be posted online in Google Classroom in order for your child to participate in remote learning.

Please follow these instructions to access your child's email address:

  • Go to google.cps.edu
  • Click on "new user" on the sign in page
  • Enter your child's FIRST NAME ONLY
  • Enter your child's student ID in "claim code"
  •               -if you do not know this, you can get it from Aspen, Parent Portal, or email your teacher,  or by completing the Student E-mail Address Support Form.
  • Enter your child's birthday in the EXACT FORMAT provided
  • Continue through the process, setting password and setting security questions.
