they will burn down the village to feel the heat."

Dear <<First Name>>,
Thank you for attending our Boys to Men Virtual Launch Party Fundraiser on March 28th! As a volunteer-powered organization, we are able to mentor many boys because of supporters like you! If you missed it, keep reading.
The evening entailed short talks, performances and even meaningful breakout activities where attendees came together to learn more about the Boy Crisis, the toxic impacts of Patriarchy, and the value of Rites of Passage work in our communities.
The evening opened a spoken word piece by Bill Amatneek titled “Boy to Man” from his soon to be released anthology titled “Heart of a Man: Men’s Stories for Women”, slated for publication in the second quarter of this year.
Next, Warren Farrell shared about the nature of the Boy Crisis, many of the causes and “myths” around toxic masculinity, as well as his experience starting The Initiative for the White House Council for Boys and Men. He also offered some clear predictions if the current boy crisis is left unaddressed.
Our last speaker was Frederick Marx, founder of Warrior Films and director of the 1994 ground breaking film “Hoop Dreams” (as well as a number of other films) presented a clip from his upcoming documentary “Boy Becomes Man” followed by a talk about his 25+ yrs. experience in the movement.

Coupled with inspiring talks from pioneers in the field, was also a fundraising effort to support our continued efforts this year in training mentors and supporting more school circles.
Our fundraising goal for the evening was $2,500 with a generous matching donation of the same. With YOUR HELP, we collectively raised: $2,198.00.
Due to the energy, connection and inspiration during the event our donor has graciously chosen to increase his commitment. All donations received through May 1, 2020 will be matched (up to $5,000) through a generous gift from an anonymous donor!
If you are thinking about giving, now is the time!

While schools remain closed until the end of this year, we are exploring a number of tools to serve our boys in virtual ways through possible online mentoring circles, for example.
This means we need more mentors in the San Francisco area for next school year.
