Weekly Devotional
As we move into April still quarantined, I want to discuss a chapter of Philippians each week to
cover the book by the end of the month. One of the most fundamental aspects of a believer’s
life is their study of God’s Word – it nourishes our souls, provides insight into God’s character,
convicts us of our sins, and shows us the hope we have in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Philippians 2
Context: [Writing from prison in Rome, Paul uses this practical letter to the Church in Philippi to: thank the church for their offering to his ministry, inform them of why he is sending Epaphroditus back to them, and update the church about his situation at Rome. In this letter, Paul speaks to the importance of resembling Christ, especially His humility (Philippians 2). He uses the letter to urge the church to unify under sound doctrine, not being tossed back and forth by the false teachers of the day.]
Appropriately, with Easter weekend just behind us, the majority of chapter two reminds us of Christ’s humility and how that should play out in our lives. Although the majority of the letter to the Church of Philippi gives practical guidance, this chapter provides theological insight into Christ’s humiliation and exaltation. Read More.

threatened by the virus, Americans flock to the grocery stores in panic, snatching up every
product they might need. Simultaneously, the markets reflect the panic with a 30% drop, the
government dumps $2 trillion into the economy, and the Federal Reserve lowers the target
interest rate to 0-.25%. How can a virus bring a nation – rather the world – to its knees? Read More
