Announcing Our Contest Winners!

Along with the 3 winners we are also publishing all the service ideas that you submitted. Sharing ideas is a powerful force for inspiration and action.

There were so many AWESOME service projects submitted that a random drawing was the only way to choose the contest winners. Thank you to everyone who submitted an entry describing how your Club or District has found ways to serve in the midst of this Coronavirus/Covid-19 Pandemic while under stay-at-home orders.

We are inspired and blown away by the creativity of Rotarians around the world.

Watch for our next contest and opportunity to share your ideas!

quote_open.jpgSuburban of Omaha Rotary - Here are some of the ways we have stayed engaged as a club and are serving our community:

  •  Hosting virtual weekly meeting through Zoom & Facebook Live with an average attendance of 95 for the last two week’s meetings.

  •  Our Community Service Committee is arranging to host three separate blood drives over the next month in coordination with the American Red Cross.

  •  We have an annual fundraiser to support our Suburban Rotary Foundation, which normally supports scholarships to high school seniors with physical challenges and local club service projects. This year, our fundraiser proceeds will be used to support the Food Bank of the Heartland in our community to combat food insecurity during this challenging time. Our goal is to raise $42,000 over the next six weeks. We have set up an online giving portal on our website so members can give online with a credit card. link here quote_close.jpg

quote_open.jpg Today, April 1st, The Rotary Club of Enid donated $10,000 to Loaves & Fishes of Northwest Oklahoma, the local Food Resource Center (FRC). The club utilized the money accumulated from the members paid but uneaten meals category. The Enid club has 144 members and it is anticipated the weekly meetings will be suspended for six weeks. With the thought of making a donation to help the community, it was decided to support Loaves & Fishes. They have been on the front lines of feeding our community of Enid, setting records for family’s served each day of the food distribution. The mission of Loaves & Fishes is to provide groceries to the food insecure families of Enid and Northwest Oklahoma and the Enid Rotary Club is helping to ensure the mission is fulfilled. link here and link here quote_close.jpg

quote_open.jpgGreensburg Salem Interactors, along with every student in Pennsylvania, received shocking news in March that they would be out of school due to the Coronavirus. Our GS students immediately jumped into action, determined to make a difference during these difficult times.

Over 15 Interactors offered their services to local families who needed babysitters due to school being out, prior to the closing of many businesses. Students volunteered on three separate occasions for the Westmoreland County Food Bank, packing 250 emergency boxes, loading 1360 senior boxes, and delivering 25 senior boxes to the residents of Penn Towers in Greensburg. Students also decluttered their rooms to gather puzzles, crafts, games, and activities for individuals with disabilities who are now homebound to keep them safe from the virus.

As Greensburg Salem Interact Club members, they truly represent, embody, and embrace a life of "Service Above Self" !! link here quote_close.jpg
