Greetings, Friends, from a very windy Massachusetts! It’s one of those energetically cleansing winds that seems to blow right through everything. It’s currently blowing so hard that our kitchen floor vibrated! I just hope it doesn’t blow out the electricity in my neighborhood.

I hope this newsletter finds you well physically and coping mentally. Emotions are being cycled through very quickly at this time so you may feel okay, or good even, then slip into a bit of despair later and that’s okay. I find going outside, even just to fill the bird feeders or check on my plants, has helped. Spending time with our pets has helped, too.  And spending time just being.

One of the things that had gotten left behind in my pre-Covid life was praying, praising and blessing. I used to do quite a lot of it, especially praising the plants and even the compost pile. I even made up a little deity (“Compostia”) and said a prayer to her when I put scraps in the composter: “Compostia, accept my offering and transmute it into rich, abundant soil!” It was kind of silly however, that compost pile is really active, full of little critters and I get great compost from it. That act was also very connecting to the cycles of death and rebirth that go on. That rich, black compost became part of two new garden beds over the last week. It’ll be supporting new life soon.  Praying list this is very connecting and any heartfelt praying will do.

Below is a short prayer for household protection from Alexander Carmichael’s Carmina Gadelica, a collection of prayers from the Scottish Highlands that was collected in the late 19th century. Feel free to modify it if you wish to use it. I’ve been praying to keep my family in good health, so you may want to add that line as well.  Kine are cattle, by the way.
A Resting Prayer
God shield the house, the fire, the kine
Everyone who dwells herein tonight
Shield myself and my beloved group
Preserve us from violence and harm
Preserve us from foes this night
For the sake of the Son of the Mary Mother
In this place, and in every place wherein they dwell tonight,
On this night and on every night
This night and every night.

Offerings
Group Healing Session – Online

This week I’m offering a group healing drumming session through Zoom. It’s on Wednesday night, 4/15, starting promptly at 7:30pm.  The intention of healing session is release of something that does not serve you any longer. The session will last about 30 minutes. Registration is through the online shop. There a sliding scale fee for this offering.

Patreon Community
After a lot of thought, I’ve decided to revive my Patreon community and start it anew. To be quite honest, having a practice that relies on advertising or social media to continually gain new clients (aka business the usual way) is utterly exhausting. I would rather support a community of people and be supported in return – like in the old days! Patreon offers a way for people to do exactly that. Patrons give monthly community support to others for something in return. In my case, supporters get herbal info, recipes, card readings, and at certain levels, access to classes, live Q&A time, videos and more.  Levels start at $5/month. You can check that out here: https://www.patreon.com/DebFateMental. For the months of April and May I’ll be talking about nettles and other edible plants and offering recipes, folklore and more.

As always, healing sessions are available on a sliding scale right now. Email me to discuss.

Peace and nettles,

Deb

Deep peace of the running wave to you.
Deep peace of the flowing air to you.
Deep peace of the quiet earth to you.
Deep peace of the shining stars to you.
Deep peace of the infinite peace to you.
