In the midst of all that’s going on these days, the state of our democracy might be the last thing on your mind. But the COVID-19 shutdown is hitting all of us hard, including the League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Tulsa.

Like so many other events, Madam President -- the league's biggest annual fundraiser -- is in a bit of a holding pattern while we figure out how and when we will be able to move forward on a public event.

But the mission of the League of Women Voters will still be there when the COVID-19 shutdown ends. Indeed, the need for educated voters and advocacy for voting rights will be even more important in whatever comes next.

Against this background, former Mayor Kathy Taylor has stepped forward to help the League survive this confounding time.

Taylor has offered a $5,000 challenge grant for the League’s Madam President event. She will match every dollar we raise from this time forward to help support the League's vital mission. Two League members have already pledged $500 each to the effort.

Please add your support by:

-- emailing your pledge to info@lwvmt.org, noting it is for the “Kathy Taylor Challenge Grant”.

-- paying online (There’s a place to designate this for the “Kathy Taylor Challenge Grant”).

-- mailing your check to: League of Women Voters of Metropolitan Tulsa, 1910 S Lewis Ave, Tulsa, OK 74104. Please mark your donation "Kathy Taylor Challenge Grant" on the memo line.

-- Reposting this message on your social media and encouraging your friends and League supporters to help in this important effort.

Thank you.

Wayne Greene
Madam President Event Chair
