TERM 2 UPDATE

Dear Parents / Caregivers,

I hope the last two and half weeks of school holidays, and nearly three weeks in lockdown have been manageable for you, your family and your son. It has certainly been a challenging time for us all as we cope with significant restrictions on our freedom of movement and choice.

I write to advise that the school term starts tomorrow Wednesday 15th April. The timetable will run as normal with classes beginning at 8.40 am and run through until 3.10 pm; then subsequently operate as usual through the week.   All Year 9  students will need to check their timetables for their new option classes and the times for this term.

Our expectation is that your son is online, engaged in his learning, working through the material that his teacher has provided.  This link provides details of how teaching and learning will be delivered and our expectations of your son.

Teachers have worked hard to provide relevant material to ensure your son continues his learning remotely. They will continue to engage with their students to assist their learning through google classroom. Your support in making sure your son engages in his lessons at the timetabled time will be invaluable in ensuring his learning is not compromised by the current lockdown. As teachers will be teaching remotely, whilst also managing their own personal family commitments, I'd ask for some understanding about their ability to respond immediately to emails relating to the teaching material, whilst I'm confident they will respond in a timely manner.

Should you have particular concerns please contact the relevant staff:

Academic matters

Pastoral Matters / Student Management

Guidance

Please remind your son to check his school email as this is the main method teachers will communicate with them outside of google classroom.

I have not yet received any official update on when we can expect to be back on-site and will advise you as soon as I do so.  I expect an update on this when the current lockdown conditions are reviewed next Tuesday 21st April in the meantime we will operate in the manner outlined.

Meanwhile, keep safe, get your son out of bed in time for an 8.40 am start tomorrow and the opportunity for some structure back in his life.

Warm regards
