Hello! This is the second issue of The Scrap Basket since we've all been in isolation, and again, I hope you are all doing ok! I've found that working from home makes for very long days, and doing some creative making at the end of those workdays definitely has helped. I finished The Kintsugi Experiment, which I thoroughly enjoyed, and am working through a few more improv projects.
What a beaut my guild-mate Jana's Galactic is, a wonderful log cabin variation made in conjunction with Color Collective. About her quilting, Jana said, "I chose to machine quilt around every log with matching thread, to see how that would look. There are anomalies, I did try to make it a bit wonky, also some glitter thread, and a couple of unquilted logs sprinkled about." Very nice! [reveriequilting]
Meet Gelateria, inspired by a mural Sophie/Luna Lovequiltssaw in Nashville, and named for its ice-creamy colors and patterns. Note that the circles were applied with hand-applique! [lunalovequilts]
Another in her personal #tryatriadchallenge, in "Varietals," Krista/Poppyprintexplored improv hourglass blocks with just three fabrics, "but because they are luscious Oakshott shot cottons, the fabric presents differently depending on the orientation of the warp and weft thread colours when the pieces are sewn together." Look close to see! [poppyprint]
I was following with interest ever since Linda/Flourishing Palms first joined her guild's mod art challenge, and I loved every new development I saw. Inspired by the work of Victor Vasarely, Linda's completed "VV" is such a stunner, and just imagine all those y-seams!

GOTTA LOVE IT!
Gotta say I've loved seeing a bunch of rainbow quilts that folks have made to share cheer and hope, often by hanging in the windows of their home, so passers-by can see. I really love the one Kimberly/[calamitykim] made, with its clear beautiful message. She was inspired by Silver Linings Sewing with Carrie Bloomston.
