In this Health App Library newsletter we bring you new categories of app reviews, including New Zealand-focused apps to help Kiwis during COVID-19, some new Health Navigator videos, and a new tool that has been added to the Health Navigator website.

New app categories

Health Navigator is always working to add new categories to the Health App Library. Recent new additions include: If there are other categories that you would like added, email sandra@healthnavigator.org.nz

New videos added

Addressing inequity in primary care 
Susan Reid from Health Literacy NZ talks about addressing inequity in primary care.This short video ( 9 minutes ) is also supported by a guide for clinical teams that provides some questions and suggestions for use with the video. This can be used by practice teams, GP and nurse peer groups or PHO facilitators to stimulate discussion and action.
Sumatriptan autoinjector device use 
Funding for the sumatriptan injection changed from 1 April. A video about the sumatriptan autoinjector device has been created by the Health Navigator team to help people understand how to use it to help manage migraines.

New tools added

Aspirin bleeding-risk calculator 
An aspiring bleeding-risk tool developed in New Zealand has been added to the Health Navigator website. It helps clinicians show patients estimates of the benefits and harms to them of taking aspirin to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events.

New Zealand apps to help with mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic

Mentemia app
A new app, developed with guidance by Sir John Kirwan, provides users with practical tips and techniques to help them take control of their mental wellbeing

Staying on track during COVID-19
Staying on Track is an online course that provides a range of tools to help people cope with worries and challenges during the pandemic.

Melon app
Provides users with a health journal, resources and self-awareness tools to help people manage their mental wellbeing.

Aroha chatbot
A chatbot developed by the University of Auckland to help young people (13–24 years old) manage their worries during the pandemic.
