Wellspring Weekly News
Monday after Easter, April 13

The tomb is empty! Jesus is risen!

Wellspring's pastoral team, volunteers and staff were grateful to be "with" you as we worshipped Jesus together this past Easter Sunday. If you missed yesterday's livestream service, you can always watch it during the week-- there's a link above. Although our church building was relatively empty yesterday (good job everyone with the physical distancing), we are reminded that Jesus is alive and present, out and about in the neighborhood. That is the reason why we celebrate, the reason why we worship. First came the grave, then the waiting, then the rising. So it is with us, too.

Some of you may feel like you're stuck in a dark place, or still waiting for the rising. Jesus' promise of eternal life with God for those who come to him includes hope of renewed life now, too.  With that in mind, please let the pastoral or prayer team know how we can be praying for and with you. We know these are difficult and challenging times, and we want to come alongside you in your losses and in your waiting-- we do not have to be alone as we wait for God's new life to breakthrough.

If you know someone who's struggling now, here's an attached list of various resources compiled from local community members. It includes information on everything from filing unemployment claims to lists of shopping centers that offer kupuna shopping hours.

Let us know, too, how our church 'Ohana can come alongside you at this time.

Daisy (over Zoom) prays for masks sewn by our Merry Mask Makers before they are donated to medical workers.
"Mask"er Aid

Given recent recommendations from government and healthcare officials about wearing masks in public, we're slowly getting used to making sure we don't leave home without a mask. Although it's trickier sometimes to figure out who's behind the mask, seeing the different shapes, styles and fabric designs are a reminder that we have wonderful people who so freely give of their time, resources and skills for the safety & protection of others.

So far, our wonderful Mask Makers Ministry Team, led by Danette Fukumae and Debbi Hazama, have completed many masks for our local hospitals. They also sent out care packages to those of our Wellspring 'Ohana who have immediate family working in the healthcare field on the mainland! All the masks have been prayed over, too, before leaving our church.

Our mask makers would like to offer you masks, too! Right now we can provide two masks per family for those who ask. Please contact Debbie Hazama @ (808) 782-2445 by phone or text to request masks or if you have any questions. Please be sure to leave a contact number and mailing address so we can mail them to you. Thank you for your patience as our wonderful sewers continue to sew for both our local hospitals and our Wellspring 'Ohana!
