Social (distance) Daycare

As we enter our fourth week of COVID-19 measures, the situation in BC is (tentatively) stabilizing, and we may be moving into a "maintenance" phase.
With 45 cases confirmed over the weekend, our curve is down, and we'll find out if the provincial State of Medical Emergency will be extended past the Apr. 15 date sometime today.
But whether it's lifted or not, we know that keeping distance, and minimizing exposure will be in place for the foreseeable future.
What does that mean for childcare? Some introductions to be made.
With people staying home, and our numbers waayyy down, giving the kids space is pretty easy, but whether in April or May, or whenever in the future families start re-establishing routines outside the home, our revamped Social (distance) Daycare program will meet the new requirements.
Introducing the Code of Covid Conduct
Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to complete our survey last week!
Your comments and feedback (and huge thanks to those who sent resources), helped create policies that all received at least 85% support. Find the data here.
We will ask everyone who attends (and works) at Buddings to consent and adhere to the Code of Covid Conduct.
Note: While we received many completed surveys, the ranking table caused some to be lost.
To complete an abridged version, without that question, please click here.

With government programs incentivizing everyone to stay home, offering service depends on finding people to depend on, so we are so lucky to have found Codie Shiels!
Straight outta Ireland, Codie has a jump-up-and-go that comes from 20 years of Irish dancing, and a strong discipline that led her to 3 world championships. She coached dancers, tutored school kids, and studied developmental psychology, all of which led her to a fascination and appreciation for working with kids... safely!
She's taking in our Covid training, on top of our regular daycare program, and she's even taken to bike commuting! Find her bio on the blog, and her smiling face in the house. Or email her, at codie@buddings.ca.

BKConline Seeks Presenters!

As things start to settle, and we adjust to the new normal, social bonding and educational programming for young children are moving with the times. There's a new world of early childhood education to explore online!
This morning at 10am, Talia presents the lessons learned so far, teaching us how to teach you.
Join her in our regular meeting room (Meeting ID: 545-889-8276) for a pedagogic presentation on how preschool works... for preschoolers and parents!
And here's a helpful tip to increase interaction: When you sign in, please set your screen name to child(ren)'s name, followed by the parent name, so we know who's with us.
Help Design a "Virtual Preschool"!
Our weekly program has been an amazing opportunity to connect with friends and families, to share and even celebrate together, while keeping apart. More than 80 families have attended some of our classes, and we know parents are looking for programs.
But more than one-off one-hour timekillers, there is an immediate need for virtual preschool programs that help parents structure their children's play and learning, at home. BKConline is looking for educators, imaginers, and artists, to present programs that do just that!
Meeting up with friends and teachers through a tablet doesn't have to be a shallow experience, and online teachers have a brand new medium to explore. Connecting week after week, for educational activities will teach children social skills, and when it's online, and flexible, it fits into your schedule too!
The idea is embryonic but if you'd like to be part of its development, please join Talia for a Zoom meeting focus group on Friday Apr. 17, at 2pm. Email her for the meeting ID and password.
