Again this week, we will find connections between our experiences and the text using a method called "civic reflection." It is a simple method taught by the Center for Civic Reflection that uses "readings, images and videos to engage people in deep, productive conversation about issues that impact their communities and work in the world..." To simulate the process with a group, the questions will be presented sequentially to move from encounter with the text to reflection on your experience.
To begin, take a few moments to arrange your space, light your candle and still your mind through a few moments of silence and attention to your breath. Open the slides that will lead you through the questions. The slides will advance automatically every thirty seconds, so pause or advance them using the controls that appear at the lower left. Spend a few minutes reflecting on each one and write your your reflections in your journal. At the close, take some time to sit in stillness, blow out your candle, and welcome the day.
