“Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success.” -Henry Ford

Weekly Message from Mr. Branton:

Thank you for continued teamwork and support as we dove in deeper with distance learning last week. Our teaching staff is working to design lessons for students with high rigor and challenge that will push each learner individually. Through the platform of Seesaw, they continue to engage with students and promote high standards of accountability, so students can achieve greatness in their academic work. Your support and understanding is key to our partnership of excellence of what we expect from each learner at Westwood. We miss them dearly at school and can’t wait to see them again soon, but we will continue to connect virtually to promote the values of Westwood through this distance learning opportunity.

Question or concerns through this journey, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team for support. Your collaborative partner in education!

Mr. Branton

Things to Know

Distance Learning Attendance

During distance learning District 742 will continue to monitor student attendance. Students are counted as attending if they log in to Seesaw daily. Please be sure to have your student log in at some point on regularly scheduled school days. They may complete work at any time during the day. They may also complete work on the weekend if necessary. If your child is unable to log in on a regularly scheduled school day due to illness or any other reason please notify your child’s teacher. This will allow us to count the day as an excused absence. Students who do not log in, and do not notify their child’s teacher will be considered unexcused. Please email Camille Murphy or Derek Branton with questions about attendance. Thank you!

Classroom Environment Form- 2020-2021: As we begin to plan for next year, we will soon begin the process of placing students into classrooms for next academic year. If you would like to fill out the classroom environmental learning form below and forward the form to Abby Schuft, our Administrative Secretary at Westwood. She will collect the forms throughout the month of April. The deadline to complete this form is May 1st. This form is helpful to determine best placements for students when placing them in specific learning environments for next year. This form isn’t used to request specific teachers for the next grade level. Those requests won’t be granted. We spend a great deal of time collecting data and input from all the stakeholders before we make a placement for each  learner at Westwood. Thank you for honoring this process. You can find the form on Westwood’s Home Page.
