The Next Right Thing

<<First Name>>,

We're giving Jade Souza another opportunity to share about her time in Cuba this coming Sunday. Jade was scheduled to share on March 15th, a talk we postponed when we cancelled that day's gathering.

Speaking of cancellations and postponements, I assume many of you have faced both, and maybe multiple times. I imagine that, for all the ways we're trying to stay positive, grateful, and hopeful, there is a lot of disappointment among us. Cancelled graduations, trips, parties, gatherings, meetings...jobs? Among other things.

I want to join the chorus of others who may have encouraged you not to minimize your grief and say: it stinks. I'm sorry for these disappointments and the sorrow and stress and scrambling they may have caused. The ripples of our quarantine life could also bring new disappointments and challenges in the weeks and months to come. Despite the possible dread and anxiety and grief we feel, somehow...we have to keep going...right?

I will defer to wisdom from my kids' current favorite flick. I hope this helps you as much as it helped the fictional character who sang it...

I won't look too far ahead
It's too much for me to take
But break it down to this next breath
This next step
This next choice is one that I can make
So I'll walk through this night
Stumbling blindly toward the light
And do the next right thing
And, with it done, what comes then?
When it's clear that everything
Will never be the same again
Then I'll make the choice to hear that voice
And do the next right thing

Hang in there, friends!

-Matt

Text of the Week

Ephesians 2:17-22:
17 So he came and proclaimed peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near; 18 for through him both of us have access in one Spirit to the Father. 19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are citizens with the saints and also members of the household of God, 20 built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone. 21 In him the whole structure is joined together and grows into a holy temple in the Lord; 22 in whom you also are built together spiritually into a dwelling place for God.

Grocery Delivery and Pantry

If you are unable (or prudently hesitant) to leave your home but need an errand run (items from the grocery store, for example), please let Matt know. Matt and Janet Grove will make arrangements to get you what you need, if possible.

Would you like to be "on the list" of folks whom Janet contacts to help with such errands? Please let Matt or Janet (littlejanetg@gmail.com) know.

Our Food Pantry is open tomorrow (Thurs) from 10am to 1pm. Know anyone who would benefit? Please pass this info along. Matt and Janet (and others) can deliver pantry items to folks who are unable to leave home.
